When you open Google Chrome, you will be asked to sign into your school google account, and then to 'turn on sync'.
Sync is required as it will allow school-specific settings and applications to be loaded onto Google Chrome automatically. It also means that you bookmarks, saved passwords, and settings are automatically synchronised to your account.
Hold the control key (windows and chromebook) or command key (Mac) and...
click on a link or a bookmark to open the link in a new tab instead of navigating away from the page you have open.
press a number key to switch to that tab. Eg. Control+1 will navigate to the first tab.
press W to close the current tab
press N to create a new tab
press D to save the current page as a bookmark
By default, bookmarks save to your bookmarks bar. You can see the bookmarks bar whenever you start a new tab in Google Chrome.
You can organise your bookmarks bar by dragging bookmarks left and right. You can right click on bookmarks to remove, rename or move them.
If you right click somewhere on the bar itself, you have the option to keep the bar visible at all times.
You can also create folders on your bookmarks bar to organise your bookmarks.
If you keep lots of tabs open at once, consider grouping them together. This allows you to hide and show them all at once, or temporarily close them (with the option to restore them again later).
